This ADU was built in Petaluma, Sonoma County. The design was optimized for a single user who wanted a vernacular look that was original yet still fit into the Historic Oak Hill neighborhood. MAD Architecture took great care in siting the dwelling in amongst the mature Coast live Oaks on the Site that help give this district its name. The white color provides a neutral backdrop to accentuate the dappled shade of the Oaks. A front porch acts as an outside room and looks, not over the street, but over the extensive edible gardens tended by the owner who is a Landscape consultant.
