The Client asked for an ADU for their in-laws.  The 740sf 2 Bedroom Unit was located on the street frontage of the property alongside the Primary Residence.  The design challenge was to ignore the generic 1980’s ‘subdivision spec-house’ vernacular while not upstaging it.  The solution was to hide the ADU by integrating its facade into the front fence punctuated by window cutouts.  Only the HIP roof is seen floating above.  This avoids any design clash between the House and ADU.
